Lead Software Engineer

Remote | Full-Time

We’re seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our core team and help us build the next-generation of tools for science education. In this senior-level position you’ll enjoy a diverse set of responsibilities that include building core chemistry simulation technology in Unity, developing proprietary content authoring tools, and implementing a student-facing mobile app. The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor capable of tackling any technical challenge across the full technology stack, but can also lead and mentor a small development team. Your contributions to our platform have the potential to improve the learning experience for millions of students.

At this time we’re only able to consider US-based applicants. Application window closes 6/15/19.

You Will

  • Play a key role in our engineering efforts. From our core technologies to new product features or integrating 3rd party solutions, coordinate closely with the executive team to make appropriate technology decisions and lead their execution.

  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team. Work with colleagues in business, product, design, and content to make informed, high-impact decisions.

  • Set the standards for our engineering organization. Define, document, and maintain workflows and processes to help other engineers succeed.

  • Assemble a team of doers. Assist in building a diverse and effective group of engineers.

  • Represent the product and brand at conferences. Travel to key events to give talks and demonstrate our processes and products.

You Have

  • An entrepreneurial mindset. You have a bias toward action and a drive for delivering value.

  • Proven software development skills. You’ve demonstrated the ability to not only write clean, scalable, and performant code, but the capacity to lead the creation and delivery of complex software. You’ve played a key role in the development of 2-3 complex software projects.

  • Wide and deep technical knowledge. You’re an expert with Unity (C#), have released projects on iOS and Android, and can develop web apps from the front-end (HTML, CSS, JS) to the back-end (Node.JS, Heroku). Preferably you have extensive experience creating real-time simulation logic.

  • A results-driven work ethic. You strive to meet real customer needs, and use data to back up your efforts.

  • A passion for learning. Not only are you hungry to improve yourself, you take joy in sharing knowledge with others.
